Many consider that the Romans had the best helmet of ancient times. The helmet composed of a chinstrap, a visor and the actual metal part. It was made to also cover the whole neck of the soldier. Most helmets were made of bronze and had different types of plumes or horse hairs on the top to distinguish what rank a soldier was.
